Job Title:    Control System & Commissioning Engineer

Due to this success and sustained growth, we are now recruiting for an experienced Control Systems/Electrical Engineer to join our multi-discipline team, to deliver the machine control system for a range of exciting machinery-based projects.

 

The Role:

  • Responsible for writing & developing software, PLC & HMI coding for various automation projects
  • To be responsible for commissioning & developing special purpose automated machinery, ensuring successful customer sign off testing to specification and timescale (FAT & SAT)
  • To be responsible for the electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special purpose automated machinery projects
  • Deliver control and safety systems which comply with the requirements of the machinery directive and appropriate national & international standards
  • Deliver electrical system design, selection of components and generating detailed circuit diagrams
  • Integration of various robots, including Scara, Delta & 6-axis
  • To communicate effectively to customers, suppliers and team members
  • To be part of a team dedicated to delivering projects to plan and budget

 

Key Tasks

  • To design, develop and commission machine control and safety systems
  • Responsible for creation of electrical documentation including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents and bills of materials
  • Responsible for ensuring that machine electrical systems and safety system comply with all relevant European and international safety standards
  • Responsible for correct selection and procurement of all components
  • Maintain clear concise technical documentation, design specifications, machine manuals etc.
  • Supervise electrical technicians and control the build of machine control systems
  • For medical sector projects work to the requirements of a regulated system such as GAMP 5
  • Assistance during the commissioning of machine control systems and perform machine testing and carry out Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance testing
  • Responsible for ensuring that the control system are to budget and within required timescales
  • Provide customer support that can include visits to customer’s site throughout the UK and to assist with the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting when required

 

Candidate Profile

 

  • Competence in software design and PLC coding experience with the following equipment would be an advantage: B&R, Omron, Siemens, Mitsubishi,
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or closely related control system discipline
  • Competence in electrical design for machine automation
  • Knowledge of ePlan as this is our preferred design package
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various national and international electrical standards for machine design and machine safety systems and requirements to CE mark machine systems
  • Experience of integrating Scara, Delta and 6-axis robots would be an advantage.  
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully delivering machine control system projects to required timescale and budget
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various national and international electrical standards for machine design and machine safety systems and requirements to CE mark machine systems
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in control systems engineering related to automation machinery
  • Must be self-motivating with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Desire to combine practical application with a theoretical approach
  • Prepared to travel within the UK if necessary
