Due to this success and significant sustained growth we are now recruiting for an experienced Machinist to join our successful team.

 

The Role:

  • To carry out assembly and detail fitting of special purpose machinery supplied to the Automotive, Medical, Food and Plastic industries
  • Assemble and fit the mechanical elements of machines, dealing with rectification work and engineering change as appropriate
  • Lead projects appointed to you throughout the build stage on the shop floor
  • Assist in the commissioning and development of machinery once it has been assembled and powered up
  • Complete basic machining and fabrication of parts as necessary
  • Maintain production build documentation and complete forms as required by in-house procedures
  • Liaise with in-house personnel as required to resolve build and design issues
  • During the course of delivering equipment it may be necessary to work off-site at customer’s facilities both in the UK and overseas, therefore good presentation in front of customers is essential and the flexibility to periodically work off-site is required

 

Key Tasks

  • Build the equipment to the agreed time scale
  • Assemble and test pneumatic system, route pneumatically pipes neatly
  • At times assist electrical build, routing cables etc.
  • Mechanically set the completed equipment to the component part prior to development
  • Set all pneumatic cylinders and reed switches prior to development
  • Manually check operation of each element of the process prior to development
  • Assist in development of equipment from power on through to customer acceptance tests, installation and acceptance test at customer site
  • Record in the build file all issues arising from the build
  • Keep all instruction booklets with the build for any equipment fitted during the build
  • Ensure the equipment is kept clean and damage free during the build, equipment to be built to a high standard of care and presentation
  • Keep the bench, work area and general factory areas clean and tidy
  • Assist in support of installed equipment at customer's site

 

Candidate profile:

  • Due to the nature of this role this position requires an experienced Mechanical Fitter with sound knowledge and understanding of assembling machinery and automation equipment
  • The ideal candidate will have completed an appropriate recognised engineering apprenticeship with corresponding qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is essential
  • Experience of building special purpose machinery or similar precision mechanical machinery
  • Good knowledge & understanding of mechanical principles
  • Experience of general machining
  • Experience of fabrication
  • Experience & understanding of pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge & experience of electrical wiring, with appropriate qualification would be an advantage
