Due to recent growth we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.

 

The Role:

  • To design and oversee special purpose machine projects from order acceptance to customer hand over
  • To be responsible for the design and detailing of projects
  • To communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and team members
  • To be part of a team dedicated to delivering projects to plan and to budget
  • To visit customer sites as appropriate to fully understand their requirements
  • To assess and improve design concepts along with a team at sales quotation stage to reduce risks, costs and lead times
  • To conduct project reviews with customers on a periodic basis
  • To negotiate with external suppliers and obtain the most cost-efficient materials in line with project budgets and time plans

 

Candidate profile:

  • Degree qualified / HNC / HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in mechanical design role ideally related to automation machinery
  • Competence in mechanical design, robotics, automation, design of mechanical mechanisms and pneumatic systems would be an advantage
  • Expert user of 3D parametric CAD package, ideally Solid-edge however use of Solid-works, Inventor, Creo etc would also be considered
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of successfully delivering mechanical design projects to required timescale and budget
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various national and international standards for machine design and machine safety systems and requirements to CE mark machine systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Desire to combine practical application with a theoretical approach
  • Prepared to travel within the UK and overseas where necessary
